Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Little Rock, Arkansas. Included is a rare Sunday morning BNSF local move over the Little Rock & Western (ne. Rock Island) out to the siding behind Harvest Foods on Cantrell Road. It was a bright sunny day. Included:

1) UP 4189, 8:13 a.m.
2) Unknown type of equipment on flatcar.
3) UP 5104, 8:37 a.m.
4) New UTLX tank car
5) BNSF blue/yellow 3186, BNSF 2011 on BNSF local
6) UP 5474 in same scene as BNSF 3186, 9:36 a.m.
7) UP 5015 and 8173 passing each other, 12:04 p.m.
8) New Potlatch hopper
9) BNSF Warbonnet 644, 12:36 a.m.

LEFT-UP 4189 at 8:13 a.m. RIGHT-
What kind of equipment is hauled on this car? According to a poster on Trainorder.com, the special frame work is used to hold two rows of containers. The owner is International Catalysts (ICCX), but he was not sure of what the containers carry. Another photo below.

BNSF local headed by BNSF 3186, 9:06 a.m. This train is on UP's Main No. 2 heading north, will cross over to Main No. 1 and go onto the Baring Cross bridge over the Arkansas River between Little Rock and North Little Rock, then back up onto the LRWN's tracks a couple of miles to near Harvest Foods on Cantrell Avenue, where it will leave some cars.


LEFT-Two shades of BNSF hoppers. RIGHT-On the LRWN tracks, backing toward the west at 9:19 a.m.


About this time, the train went into emergency. Two air hoses broke midway through the train and it took over an hour to get them replaced.


RIGHT-Taken from the CantreLl Blvd overpass looking west/southwest. The BNSF train is to the right. It's 9:34 a.m.

UP 5474 and BNSF 3186.


It's now 11:25 a.m. and this is the former Rock Island Sunbelt tracks used by the Litle Rock & Western (Little Rock to Danville, AR). The BNSF local is stopped near Harvest Foods on Cantrall Blvd.




Back at Union Station at 11:50 a.m. The UP coal train to the right developed engine trouble here, blocking both mains. UP 8173 and 5015 pass at 12:04 p.m.
