Saturday, October 28, 2008 at Brinkley, Arkansas. Rare view of two CSX trains passing each other, both southbound, one from the north and one from the east at Brinkley Junction. When I saw two distant headlights, I crossed the tracks at  US Higway 70 and got on the sunlit side. The train from the north was going the usual track speed, about 60 mph, and the one from the east was going about 10 mph because of the sharp curve.  Finally the train from the east got into view before the one from the north got there.

Included today:
1) CSX 7373 (from north). CSX 5430 and 597 (from east), 11:51 a.m.
2) NS 8374, 12:18 p.m.
3) UP 4160, NS 8413, 1:33 p.m.
4) CN 5267, UP 2412, 1:57 p.m. with a good wave from the engineer.

LEFT-CSX 7373 across the field coming from the north on the Jonesboro Sub, with the tracks from the east (Marion-West Memphis) in the foreground. 11:51 a.m. October 18. RIGHT-
Just a little further and CSX 5430 would be out of the shade. CSX 7373 heads the train on the left.

LEFT-Geee...all these CSX units on UP tracks. The Brinkley Depot Museum is left-center. US Highway 70 is just behind me with the crossing gates down, so both these locomotives were blowing their horns in a dueling display of sound. And LOUD! RIGHT-CSX 5430 and 597.

The line CSX 5430 is on in the foreground goes about two miles south before merging with the main UP north-south line.

LEFT-12:15 p.m. and another southbound is speeding south. RIGHT-NS 8374 passing the depot.

LEFT-UP 4160 and NS 8413, 1:33 p.m. RIGHT-CN 5267 and UP 2412, 1:57 p.m. Note the engineer waving.
