Cotton Belt steam locomotive 819 photos I took in the 1980s. This locomotive resides at the Arkansas Railroad Museum in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and is currently in many pieces waiting for an FRA inspection at some point in the possibly distant future. (Ken Ziegenbein photos, thundertrain@gmail.com)

SSW 819 at Union Station in Little Rock, Arkansas, June 13, 1986. Back then there were two Amtrak siding tracks with a walkway between them. In the 1970s and 1980s, Amtrak's InterAmerican, which became the Texas Eagle, would meet here at night, thus the two passing tracks (talk about confusion to passengers when the two trains were side-by-side, and knowing which one to get on). The track the locomotive is on in the photo became the current Amtrak platform.

SSW 819 on its' maiden run in the spring of 1986. I don't remember the exact date, but I was on board. This run-by was at Saline Siding, between Pine Bluff and Fordyce, Arkansas.

Night shot taken at Union Station in Little Rock, the night of June 13, 1986, at 1 a.m. (actually, 1 a.m. of the 14th). The track I'm standing on was the second Amtrak siding with no trains expected. However, those were the days before I knew better.
