I got brave tonight, Friday February 21, 2014,  and got some pictures of Amtrak 22, the Texas Eagle, from the Cantrell Road Overpass in Little Rock, looking back at Union Station . This bridge crosses the Union Pacific tracks between the Baring Cross railroad bridge and Union Station. I did this shortly before midnight and was quite aware of my surroundings. This is the first time I've taken night shots from this location, and it's tricky lighting since you're looking into the lighted platform. Anyway, it was fun to do.

It's 11:13 p.m. and the Texas Eagle arrives, about 18 minutes early. I'll go to the Cantrell bridge after I get a few ground shots.

Here's the Eagle from the Cantrell overpass, 11:21 p.m.

11:25 p.m.

Driving back to the station, ready to go down the old brick  pavement to track level as the Eagle waits on the Amtrak siding, 11:28 p.m.

11:36 p.m.

At 11:37 p.m., all the passengers had boarded 10 minutes ago. Since the train was early, it was waiting on the scheduled time to leave, which is 11:39 p.m.

One minute to departure.

The status board inside the waiting room.

Following are some photos from the bridge I took earlier in the night, around 9 p.m.:

This shot was taken from the Cantrell overpass before Amtrak arrived, at 8:53 p.m. Notice the locomotive lights on the tracks in the distance. Two freights were about to come toward me.

Surreal lighting and shiny tracks.

Both trains passed underneath me, but every picture from here on was washed out.
