Amtrak's Texas Eagle No. 22 arrived at Little Rock, Arkansas at 11:13 p.m. Saturday night, May 12, 2012, National Train Day. As sometimes happens with Eagle 22, when everything runs smoothly in Texas and Arkansas (i.e., no track work, delays or mechanical problems), the train tonight arrived 18 minutes early, so that meant it sat at Union Station here until departure time at 11:39 (26 minutes). Here are some photos.

Arriving 11:13 p.m. (I didn't take a movie tonight).

Engineer climbing onboard, 11:21 p.m., 18 minutes before departure.

A freight passes on the right.

From the station balcony. Consist of Amtrak 22 tonight: Locomotives 74 and 203 (203 is being taken somewhere for a required routine inspection. It's normally on the Heartland Flyer between Fort Worth and Oklahoma City),
Superliners: 39028, 32018, 37010, 33031, 31044, 31010, 34041.

This is where I take the balcony from. You climb up a spiral staircase to get to it.

Looking toward the tracks.

Looking east. You can see the freight to the left.
