A very long BNSF unit curde oil tankcar train is seen heading west on Union Pacific's Van Buren Sub in North Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday, July 22, 1011. This website also has a link to a Youtube video of the entire train passing me. Heading the train were BNSF 4764, BNSF Warbonnet8298 and BNSF 4380. It took 4 minutes for it to pass.

According to RDB from the Railspot Yahoo group:
"This is not a detour train.  These unit crude oil trains with run through power are interchanged from BNSF to UP on the loaded southbound cycle at Kansas City.  KC is also the northbound interchange point for the empties.  These trains run from Stanley, ND, to St. James, LA.  There will be more of these over either KC or E. St. Louis as new origin points come on line in the next couple of years in the Bakken Shale area."

Also, from a UP source in North Little Rock:
"That was the OSJKC, St James,LA to Kansas City, KS (BNSF)  Its a empty crude oil train.  We get them from the CP and BNSF going to St James, LA.  A new transload facility was built there last year.  It is a crude oil transfer facility and is expected to boom here in another year or so."

Approaching from UP's North Little Rock yard area at 10:21 a.m. I'm on Railroad Street. The track is UP's Van Buren Sub.

The street I'm on deadends right behind me, and no, this isn't exactly a garden spot in North Little Rock. There's a homeless 'tent city' location just to my right, but it's safe enough for occasional train photography. I've never had any problems here.

BNSF 4764 headed the train followed by BNSF Warbonnet 8298 and BNSF 4380, 10:22 a.m.

Click on the above image for a video of the entire train passing. Train is about to cross over Pershing Street in North Little Rock, then go under Interstate 40, which is to the left of the trees.
