Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Brinkley, Arkansas (in eastern Arkansas halfway to Memphis on Interstate 40). Only 3 trains today between 859 a.m. and 4 p.m., but I added extra photos around the depot museum, including a conductor's uniform, butterflies and flowers. Included today:

1) 1950s conductor uniform on load to the museum
2) UP 9684, 5156
3) CSX unit on train in the movie
4) Picture of depot from trackside
5) Closeup of a colorful butterfly
6) Old Rock Island ties

This conductor's uniform is on display in the Brinkley (AR) Depot Museum.

UP 9684, 11:49 a.m. I used the Film V2 enhancement on this digital photo (using a Panasonic Lumix G1 4/3rds digital camera and SilkyPix developer). This gives good saturation to photos on overcast days.

UP 5156, 1:03 p.m.

Here's a Youtube video of a fast freight passing the station at 8:59 a.m. taken from inside the old Cotton Belt/Rock Island ticket office of the Brinkley Depot Museum. It was taken in full HD using the 16x9 aspect ratio, The black to the right in the movie is the office window frame:

My good friends, the good ole' dark clouds.

A crop duster.

The Brinkley Depot Museum taken from trackside. The Rock Island used to run left (east) to right (west) next to the platform. This was the Sunbelt line of the Rock Island, taken up here in the early 1980s. The former Rock Island tracks remain to my left, going east to West Memphis and used by UP.

You can still see some Rock Island ties looking east toward West Memphis. It crossed the Cotton Belt north-south line, now the Jonesboro Sub of the Union Pacific.

Insulated wire that used to control signals.

Birds on the old railroad comm tower, not being used today.

Crape Myrtle.

This butterfly showed up just outside the station. Not sure what kind it is. I don't think it's a Monarch.

Same butterfly with it's wings folded.
