Union Pacific's annual Family Days was held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Sherwood Forest in Sherwood, Arkansas from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Here are lots of photos. I tried to get as many events and people as possible. I reduced the size of the photos for this webpage so the hundreds of photos will download much faster. But you can click on any individual photo to get the full, high resolution photo (each one 3 to 5 MB in size). Once the larger file loads, you can save it  to your computer or print them.
I've never been to a Family Days event before since I don't work for UP, but it really felt like it was a family event with everyone there having a connection with the larger extended Union Pacific family, regardless of their personal background in life.  All had something in common. It was nice seeing the thousands of people enjoying themselves and to see the children playing together. The local UP people who put this event together are top notch. (Ken Ziegenbein -

9:53 a.m. The festivity wasn't officially open yet.

Face painting was popular.

11:30 a.m.

11:53 a.m. the lunch line was very long.

Back outside after noon.

RIGHT-Back outside at 12:21 p.m. and the line for the hot dogs and hamburgers was still long.

Straight from Omaha, this locomotive simulator was fun to play with.

Back to the Thomas-Hogwarts train, which I thought was a neat idea for a train.

Back inside at 1:16 p.m.

Face painting.

The temporary tattoo table.

Dark clouds at 4:04 p.m. but we didn't get any rain. The festival was winding down.

The sign-in desk. The UP trademark was on the locomotive simulator trailer.

Almost 5 p.m. and people were leaving. It was a fun day with lots to do.

Running the locomotive simulator was fun, at least it was for me since I've never run a real train. Other controls in the simulation trailer had different weather conditions on the simulation, like snow, rain. The sound effects through the earphones sounded realistic.
