On Saturday, January 18, 2014, Jerry Nunn and I went to Frisco, Texas to take a look at the not-yet-open Museum of the American Railroad. Here are some photos, including UP 4018 Big Boy, Santa Fe 49 Warbonnet F-unit,  Santa Fe motorcar M-160, MKT 438 standard Dining Car, BNSF 9045 heading a coal train past Frisco 19, Frisco SLSF 1144 wooden caboose, and a long line of passenger cars.

First of all, here's a picture of those who attended the annual Railspot luncheon at Love and War In Texas Restaurant that afternoon at 1 p.m. I left the lens hood on while taking the flash picture, that's why there's a black smudge lower center.

UP 4018 Big Boy sits at the museum.

UP 4018 in the glistening sun. All these photos were taken through the fence with a 18-300mm zoom lens.

Lots of passenger cars on display.

Another Santa Fe car.

Santa Fe motorcar M160.

As are all the photos, this was taken as I held the camera through the fence bars.

Number 19 steam engine, I believe it's a Consolidation. This is displayed in another part of the city of Frisco next to the BNSF tracks. It's not part of the Museum of the American Railroad. Frisco #19 is in reality former Lake Superior & Ishpeming #19, one of several ex-LS&I steamers that found an extended career with the Grand Canyon Railroad. #19 later was retired and displayed by GCRR at their Williams, Arizona station. It was subsequently acquired by the Frisco Heritage group for display at their "townsite." The eventual plan is to emplace the Texas & Pacific boxcar and the "Armour" PCX reefer between #19 and the SLSF caboose. ~ George Jenista, Trinity Valley RR group, Ft. Worth, Texas 76115

Lucky me. This BNSF coal train headed by BNSF 9045 passed as I was taking pictures of Frisco 19. It was 1:06 p.m. January 18.
