Saturday, January 4, 2014 was a cloudy and chilly day at Union Station in Little Rock. The southbound Amtrak Texas Eagle No. 21 was 9 1/2 hours late into town because of snow delays in Illinois, especially around the Chicago area. Amtrak Texas Eagle No.21 southbound headed by AMTK 89, 12:29 p.m. Train was 9 1/2 hours late, we were told by heavy snow in the Chicago area. It didn't get to St. Louis until 3 a.m. the time it should have arrived in Little Rock, so the delay was caused by something north of there.

The Eagle was delay an additional hour when a switch failed to lock inside the UP yards in North Little Rock.

Taken from the end of the Amtrak platform. That black barrel is not a trash can but shelters a watering pipe, which leaks water all the time.

12:32 p.m. This train usually gets here at 3 a.m. so most people don't realize how many people ride Amtrak through here. Now you can see. The Texas Eagle along its entire route carried over 300,000 people in 2013.
