BNSF local backing on Little Rock & Western's tracks in front of Union Station on Saturday, February 12, 2011 to store and pick up cars. It had a colorful consist again: BNSF/BN 2934 (green), BNSF 2042 (one of their blue units) and BNSF/Santa Fe 512 in faded Warbonnet paint. It was a sunny day with the sun behind me. Also today, I included a 'then and now' shot of Main and 6th Streets in Little Rock, one taken in 1910 with streetcars and one February 8, 2011. Also, I've included a couple of photos of Bennett's Military Supply store in downtown Little Rock, which recently celebrated its 140th year of operation serving the camping, sporting, and military fields. Its' motto is: "Home of the Free Because of the Brave - Thank You Armed Forces"

(Note....I didn't create a clickable to enlarge format for this page, whereby I have smaller images which you click to enlarge. Instead I just uploaded all the 28 photos in my larger, 1,000 pixel wide format, which should download in 6-20 seconds or so if you have broadband. If any of you want me to also upload those small images, let me know - Ken Z)

A rainbow of colors on the BNSF local today, which operates from Pine Bluff to Little Rock to Memphis and does switching at the Port of Little Rock and other places. This local has operated with these three colorful locomotives now for a couple of weeks and usually does its switching here in Little Rock late at night, but today operated in daylight. It's headed by BNSF/Santa Fe 512 in faded Warbonnet colors, BNSF 2042, one of the blue BNSF units, and BNSF/BN 2934 green unit. It is backing up here to leave and pick up cars on Little Rock & Western's line in west Little Rock. It's 10:19 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011.

BNSF/BN 2934, BNSF 2041 and Santa Fe 512.

Backing around the curve on the Little Rock & Western's tracks. UP's Main 1 and Main 2 are in the foreground. I'm standing on the Amtrak platform, with other railfans.

Still has the original Santa Fe Warbonnet paint and Santa Fe emblem, but quite faded. Even the BNSF lettering is faded. Still nice to see though and lucky we have it in our back yard at the moment.

Leftover snow from last Wednesday. We had officially 6 inches here in Little Rock but there was officially 2 feet in parts of northwest Arkansas. Temperatures rose into the 50s today, a lot warmer than the teens and 20s Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight low here on Thursday morning was 10-12 degrees, with Fayetteville, in northwest Arkansas, falling to -18 degrees (that's 18 degrees BELOW zero) at that time.

Still backing around the sharp curve.

Water from snow melt, but to me it looks like a shadow of a giant beast.
