Track work began on Main 2 in front of Union Station Little Rock on Saturday, Feb 25, 2012. I included some photos and videos of spike and rail removal and I got the last 3 northbound trains to use the old Main 2 track. I also got the rare, MKT ungraffitied red gondola, MKT 16031, and a few other fallen-flag freight cars.

While working on Main 2, trains continued to run on Main 1. UP 7685 heads a northbound at 9:16 a.m.

My catch of the day, MKT 16031 red gondola. I couldn't read the built date. No graffiti. YAY! I hate it when anyone messes with my Katy Railroad cars.

UP 8398, the dpu. I was surprised to see a dpu on this train since it had so many locomotives as head-in power, but I suspect most of those weren't running.


The work detail continued to move into place, heading south. They would eventually replace one of the rails in Main 2, the track they are on.
