Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Little Rock and Brinkley, Arkansas. Not many trains today. It was another cold, drizzly day with temperatures in the lower 40s, about 20 degrees below normal for mid-March. Included today:

LEFT-First train of the day was approaching Union Station in Little Rock at 8:27 a.m. heading south. RIGHT-UP 1930.


Northbound at 9:03 am headed by UP 8639.


LEFT-New Orleans Public Belt Railroad boxcar HS 3982. RIGHT-MKT green gondola 16519.


LEFT-Columbus & Greenville boxcar HS30944 in pretty good condition. RIGHT-UP 4421 passing Union Station at 9:16 a.m.


LEFT-UP 4899 at 9:31 a.m. RIGHT-Now I'm at Brinkley, Arkansas on the Jonesboro Sub (between Little Rock, AR and Memphis, TN). A southbound arrives at 11:25 a.m. I met Dr. Mike Condren from Memphis here later in the day.


LEFT-UP 4144 at 11:26 a.m. about to cross US Highway 70 at speed. This was taken at 1/400th shutter speed. RIGHT-UP 3823 at 11:59 a.m.


LEFT-Illinois Central boxcar. RIGHT-Another dark, damp day in Arkansas.


LEFT-UP 3787 in the rain at 1:17 p.m., taken through the ticket window in the depot. RIGHT-Looking east along the Brinkley Sub (former Rock Island tracks). They were working at replacing ties.  A special UP engineering train was scheduled to pass along this track in 4 days.
