Here's a few trains passing Union Station in Little Rock, Arkansas today, Friday, April 20, 2012. Included is UP 1989, the Rio Grande heritage locomotive, and several former Rock Island blue hoppers. I also got some pictures of an old classic Camaro in the parking lot (since moved away).

Green dwarf signal meaning the train on Main 2 (left of signal) will go straight and not take the switch to Main 1). The yellow signal under the Cantrell Road overpass means the track across the Baring Cross bridge around the curve is clear.

2:55 p.m. Spooky. No severe weather around though.


Yellow signals meaning a southbound is approaching from the North Little Rock yard.


3:04 p.m. The North Little Rock to Pine Bluff local, YNL75-20, just crossed the Arkansas River on the Baring Cross Bridge. This train runs daily and ferries locomotives between the two UP yards, plus lots of freight cars. Five to 10 locomotives are common on this train (many not running) and I've seen as many as 175 freight cars on it some days.


UP 1989 is the 5th locomotive in this consist today.
