Saturday, May 14, 2011. Finally got back to getting some train pictures here at Union Station in Little Rock, Arkansas. Been away from trains for over a week due to fun, non-rail things I've been doing with fun people, not all in Arkansas either. Anyway, it was a cloudy, unusually cool day with temperatures in the 60s and north wind 15-20 mph. Normally it's in the lower 80s.

Included today:
1) UP 5962, 7223, 2380
2) UP/SP 6150
3) Pigeon
4) "Bubble of Life"

Yellow signals indicating a southbound about to pass at 5:37 p.m. May 14.

UP 3962 just coming off the Baring Cross bridge from North Little Rock, 5:41 p.m.

Loaded coal train.

Switching from Main 1 to Main 2, southbound.

UP 5962 passing CPX-346.

UP/SP 6150.

Zoomed in on coal train.

DPU-UP 7223.

UP 7223 heading south.

Breezy and cool.

Red signal.

Good ole' pigeon.

Green, red and yellow signals, 6:18 p.m. There will be two northbounds soon, one on UP Main 1 (left) and Main 2 (right). And yep, you guessed it, the northbound on Main 2 (the closest track) came before the one on Main 1, so the train on Main 1 was blocked from view.

UP 2389, 6:28 p.m.

The train on Main 1 can be seen through the train on Main 2 at 6:29 p.m.

I photographed a bubble from a bubble machine in the River Market in downtown Little Rock a few days ago. Can you see it in this photo? It's in the center of the picture below the contrail (closeup below)

Closeup of the brief bubble. I wrote the following commentary about this photo and called it "Bubble of Life"

Life is like a fleeting bubble. We briefly exist in our bubble of life, traveling through our surroundings, flowing with the winds of time, finding good friends in the process,  and partaking of life's adventures to the fullest. Then before we know it, this bubble disappears forever in the turbulence of time. So, enjoy life to the fullest, maximize your time in your life's bubble, cherish your friends daily, because all too soon life's bubble is gone. (Written by me in May of 2011 when I saw and photographed the bubble in these photos in the River Market in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas - Ken Ziegenbein).
