LEFT-UP 4098, 10:14 a.m. RIGHT-Santa Fe SMIX 9528. According to Tom Balzen, SMIX is Structural Metals Inc., located between Seguin and San Antonio.  Their main business is making rebar out of scrap steel.  In the central Texas area, it is common to see their flatbed 18 wheelers.  They are dark green with international orange accents.  Out bound they carry a load of rebar and a set of stakes and panels that they set up on the trailer and carry scrap back to Seguin.  When I lived in Austin, I used to see large old open top cars with the SMIX reporting marks.  If they were southbound on the UP, they were full of scrap steel.   I would be willing to bet that if they become bad order and are sent "home" to Seguin, they are made into rebar.  SMIX 9528 looks to me like a boxcar that the Santa Fe converted into a wood chip car.  It looks to me like there is scrap metal peeking out of the top of the car.

There was a MOW truck and workers on Main 2 near Baring Cross Bridge all morning, so trains were limited to using Main 1.
