Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Union Station in Little Rock. I didn't get to the station until the afternoon, but managed to get a few trains anyway. Included today is my usual blue and green tank cars, closeup of a wasp and Southwest Airline plane overhead, and a couple of  'fallen flag' freight cars. There were locomotives having 3 different roadnames, UP, BNSF and CSXT. Locomotives: UP 5659, 4384, 6695, 4896, 7039, 6316, 4632, 6598, 6167-ex SP, 7260, 4132, 9272 **** BNSF 8005 **** CSXT 758 no lightning symbol.

Got to station at 1:30 and this empty coal train the UP 5659 DPU stopped for a crew change.

BNSF 8005, part of a colorful lineup, 2:13 p.m.

CSXT 758. I was told by someone who has lived in Virginia that it's rare to see a CSXT locomotive without a lightning symbol. But from another railfan on the Railspot list:"I wouldn't say it is rare to see a CSX locomotive without the lightning symbol on it. The lightning symbol is applied to AC traction units. Such as their AC4400's, ES44AC's, and SD70MAC's. Therefore, it is unusual to see an AC traction unit without the symbol. I read somewhere that the symbol is to let firefighters know which units are AC traction and which are DC traction if a fire were to break out."

Southwest Airlines flying over the station at 3:32 p.m. I wish some of American Airlines 'heritage' painted airliners would fly over (American is starting to paint some planes the colors of former airlines, such as TWA). From Jimmy J Matta: "You know Southwest had some painted in flags of the states they serve. I saw the Texas one waiting for my flight to Sacramento from Las Vegas. I saw it in Vegas."
