LEFT-UP 4712 and 4143. RIGHT-This
unique old former gas station sits at the intersection of Trammel
Road and Roundtop Road in Sherwood, Arkansas, just north of North
Little Rock. UP's main line to Missouri through Bald Knob, AR is just
beyond the trees. This was taken about 4 p.m. October 7. Trammel Road
is to the left and Roundtop Road to the right and the station sits in
the 'Wye'. The gas station was last used in the late 1950s or early
1960s when the roads were the main roads in the area and is around 65
years old. Today most traffic goes on US Highway 67/167 or Interstate
40. I was told the owner still lives a few blocks away from this
classic station and he's apparently kept the building in pretty good
shape. The roof looks relatively new. The structure is vacant.
Here's
a satellite photo of this building showing the road names. You can see
the tower's shadow! UP's tracks are lower right. You may contact me using this CONTACT FORM -
