Of special interest today, Wednesday October 21, 2009,  was unpatched Southern Pacific 9761, plus some CSX and NS mixed in with UP. It was a cool day (about 60) with clouds moving in from the southwest from the remnants of Hurricane Rick in the eastern Pacific. Heavy rain was forecast here overnight and Thursday. As of today, Little Rock was 20.49 inches above normal for the year to date. Included today:

LEFT-UP Rail Inspection Vehicle DC-31 at 10:41 a.m. RIGHT-A lone yellow flower over the Amtrak concrete platform.


LEFT-UP 1539 and 1540 on their way to Gurdon. AR at 10:55 a.m. RIGHT-Hawk of some kind (red-tail?) on a no longer used utility pole across the tracks.  There also are a few pair of paraquin falcons seen occasionally around the tall buildings in downtown Little Rock and flying over Union Station, scaring the feathers off the hundreds of pigeons roosting on the station.
