A streetcar turns onto Markham, still Christmas Eve.

In front of the Capital Hotel.

While parked on 2nd Street, a streetcar is seen in my side mirror. It will pass be shortly, but if I'm parked inside the white line, it won't crush my car (each streetcar weighs 50,000 pounds, or about 25 tons).

Passed safely by. If you park on this and other streets, you must keep your head up so you won't open your car door while a streetcar is passing.

Christmas Eve at the Amtrak Station (Union Station), around 11:30 p.m. as passengers board Amtrak's No. 22 Texas Eagle bound for St Louis and Chicago.  Picture taken with my Druid Razr smartphone, which doesn't take great pictures.

Happy train passengers ready to board. The train was early tonight.

I'm standing almost in the woods west of the station. Amtrak's platform here is 1,000 feet long and the train fills a good part of that. That nearest light pole is #9.

Newly installed LED lights were put on both the Main Street bridge over the Arkansas River and the Pedestrian Bridge, formerly the Junction Bridge of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. I walked down to the river to get this shot about midnight. The lights change colors and move.

The following were taken Christmas Day. Not many trains were running and all the motive power was non-UP.
