As most of you know, I love taking pictures in inclement weather, such as rain, snow, fog, ice. Today, Wednesday December 29, 2010,  was a dark, cold, rainy day in Little Rock, Arkansas, perfect for some trains and streetcars in the rain photos. I took most of these from the balcony at Union Station. It was a chilly 45 degrees with light to moderate rain.

Included today:
1) Streetcar 408 in the rain
2) UP 9702, 4063, 4641

Central Arkansas Streetcar 408 in the rain, taken from my car as I was driving, about noon. This eastbound on Markham Street in the River Market.

Rain was coming down pretty good here. The Flying Saucer restaurant is to the right of the streetcar.

Taken from the balcony of Union Station at 2:24 p.m. I went up here because one of the northbound signals was green. Well, I waited for 30 minutes before a train arrived. Patience is sometimes a necessity, but I was wondering aloud where the heck the trains were!! It was chilly. This scene was taken by the camera's automatic setting, and it shows exactly how it looked to the naked eye....dark and rainy. On the train shots later, I opened the aperture a little to see the trains better.

Main 1 has a greet signal, Main 2 a yellow signal at 2:50 p.m. The one on the left was green since 2:24 p.m. You can see the puddles of water to the right.

Downtown Little Rock taken from the balcony.

The first train showed up at 3:04 p.m. on Main 2. It was an intermodal from California.

UP 9702 and 4063.

UP 4063. I opened the aperture a little here.

As luck would have it, another northbound train on Main 1 passed the first train on Main 2. The second train was headed by UP 4641 at 3:07 p.m.

UP 563020 boxcar on the train on Main 1.

Taken from the balcony looking east.

Water flowing into a drain at the station.

Going home at 3:19 p.m.
