Tuesday,
July 21, 2009 was a rainy and thundery day in Little Rock, Arkansas. I
thought I'd get some train pictures in the rain, and here they are.
There was a flash flood warning out and lots of thunder along with the
heavy rain. In fact, we had 3/10 inches of rain from this system,
making the Little Rock area 12.07 inches ABOVE normal for the year.
Included today:
1) MKT green short covered hopper, HLMX 4186 2) BNSF 555 (warbonnet), 122 (warbonnet) 3) UP 4791, 7821, 8329 4) Lots of heavy rain
LEFT-BNSF
555 and 122 lead the BNSF local from Pulaski to North Little Rock at
11:10 a.m. Here they are on Little Rock & Western's tracks waiting
for a signal. I did not adjust the exposure very much - I wanted to
show the dark, rainy conditions. RIGHT-BNSF 122 and BNSF (Santa Fe) 555.
LEFT-Rain
was pouring down. Had my camera's focus on 'spot focus', otherwise it
would try to lock on the rain instead of the train. RIGHT-Yellow board!
Ready to head north.
LEFT-Moving
at 11:15 a.m. I was standing on the covered platform at Union Station
at the top of the spiral staircase. LEFT-The train wrapped around the
curve.
LEFT-BN hopper. RIGHT-Parking lot west of the station at 11:35 a.m.
LEFT-UP 4791, 11:37 a.m. RIGHT-Roof of the old bay window at the station. Workers are fixing this area.
LEFT-Green signal looking east/north. RIGHT-UP 7821 from the roof, 11:52 a.m.
LEFT-Hope
these containers are waterproof!! They're getting a good washdown. As I
took this picture, a loud clap of thunder occurred, one of those that
continued to echo on and on. RIGHT-DPU 8329, 11:54 a.m.
MKT short green hopper, HLMX 4186, was on another freight earlier in the day.
