Crews were working on the crossover the morning before UP 844 arrived in the afternoon.
RIGHT-People were starting to arrive at Union Station at 1 p.m. UP 844 was scheduled to arrive at 2 p.m.
RIGHT-UP 7627 arrived at 2:00 p.m. The 844 was delayed. Note the pictures being taken anyway, like us 'regular' railfans.
The crowd at 2:23 p.m.
The train arrives at 3:07 p.m. Taken from the Cantrell Overpass.
RIGHT-Wide angle from the bridge at 3:10 p.m. Photo taken from the Cantrell Overpass. The train left Union Station at 3:32 p.m. (Movie of this scene below)
The following movie was
made at 3:31 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Union Station in
Little Rock, Arkansas as UP 844 left the station for North Little Rock,
where it would spend the night and next day. I took this Quicktime
movie (which I uploaded to YouTube) from the Cantrell Road overpass.
It's in 720p HD.
There was lots of wind noise and numerous people
talking, but you can still hear the locomotive and see Union Station
and the Arkansas State Capitol in the background (I set the camera to see both structures). The movie camera was on a
tripod, so the movie will be steady.
