It was 28 degrees, wind chill 17 and this remainder of the weather observation shows how dry, cold and windy it was January 23 at Little Rock. With a dew point of minus 7, it was almost hard to breathe.

Now going back to Friday, January 17, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas, I'm at Tower 60, CP T954, along with fellow railfan Jerry Nunn. Jerry and I used to work together at the National Weather Service.

While waiting for the Heartland Flyer, we saw this piece of panel track. I call panel track 1/1 scale Lionel track.

The Oklahoma City-bound Heartland Flyer approaching the bridge at Tower 60 at 5:31 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014. The scene was backlit by a blazing sun.

Tower 60 is north of Fort Worth and you can see downtown Fort Worth to the right as the Flyer approaches at 5:32 p.m.

Amtrak locomotive 115 heads the Flyer as it speeds by. I took the light reading on the ballast in the foreground, locked the exposure then took the picture with my Nikon D5200. Had I not done this, the train would have been in shadow.

This train has a locomotive on both ends, operated push-pull. The trailing loco today was 821.
