A total of 12 trains and 3 light engine moves today (February 1, 2009) at Union Station in Little Rock, Arkansas, between 8:30 a.m and 12:53 p.m. Sightings included the Model Railroader 70th Anniversary WSOR boxcar and  'Famous Ma & Pa RR' boxcar. Included today:

LEFT-Getting ready to cross the Arkansas River to the left. RIGHT-The drive down to track level at Union Station still is paved with brick. I don't know when these were laid, but even with all the recent renovations of the station, these were left in place.

The boxcar in the middle had a 'Famous Ma and Pa M&P RR' trademark on the upper right.

UP 4276, southbound at 12:31 p.m. UP 4276 heads a relatively rare southbound intermodal past this site. Most southbound Z trains travel on the Jonesboro and Pine Bluff subs.


LEFT-Short UPS trailer. RIGHT-A family walked across the tracks under the CantrelL Bridge. The Baring Cross bridge is to the left.


LEFT-Walking a bike across the tracks, about 12:40 p.m. RIGHT-Southbound work train was coming off the bridge and, of course, was sounding his horn.

RIGHT-UP 4757, 12:53 p.m. taken from a parking lot of the Arkansas State Capitol complex, just south of Union Station. Note that the UP name is missing, leaving only the UP Wings.
